Your local electrician in Watford

We work across Watford and the surrounding part of Hertfordshire, covering everything from Victorian terraces near the centre to the 1930s streets around Cassiobury and the new flats going up in town.

Rewires, consumer units, EICRs, EV chargers and fault finding when the power keeps tripping, all by a NAPIT-registered electrician and properly certified.

Watford is a planned visit for us rather than a five minute hop, so we book a time and turn up in it. For anything urgent we will tell you honestly how soon we can be there.

Four different Watfords, four different jobs

Watford has an unusually mixed housing stock for one town. Around the centre and Nascot you get Victorian and Edwardian terraces. Out towards Cassiobury it turns into 1930s mock-Tudor suburbia. Beyond that are the post-war estates, and in the middle of town the old buildings are steadily being replaced by new apartment blocks.

There are protected pockets too. Cassiobury Park Conservation Area covers the park and the streets around it, and Nascot Wood is recognised locally for its 1920s to 1940s houses and tree-lined roads.

Each of those brings a different job. The terraces near the station are the ones most likely to still have wiring that is well past its life. The Cassiobury semis usually need the board updating rather than the whole house doing. The newer flats rarely need rewiring at all, but they do throw up faults from how they were finished, and a lot of our work there is tracing something that was never quite right from day one.

What we get called out for in Watford

Rewires in town centre terraces

Victorian and Edwardian houses near the station and along the older streets are the ones we most often find still on original or very dated wiring. We rewire in stages so you can stay put, and we take care with the period detail.

Consumer units around Cassiobury

The 1930s houses out this way are usually sound but running on an old board with no RCD protection. Updating it is normally a single day and it is the biggest safety improvement for the money.

Faults in new town centre flats

Newer apartments should not need much, but we get called to plenty. Circuits that trip for no obvious reason, sockets that were never terminated properly, lighting that was rushed at the end of a build. We find it and fix it.

EV chargers where there is a driveway

Straightforward on the suburban streets with off-street parking, harder on terraces with no drive. We will tell you honestly which one you are before quoting.

What we do in Watford

Electrician in Watford, questions answered

My flat is only a few years old. Why does it keep tripping?

Age is not really the point. New builds trip for the same reasons as old houses, usually a faulty appliance or a connection that was not made properly during the build. It is a fault to find, not a sign the whole flat needs rewiring. We trace it and tell you which it is.

How much does an EICR cost in Watford?

It depends on how many circuits the property has, so a flat costs less than a four bed house. Give us the property type and bedroom count and we can price it. You get the whole report either way, not just the outcome.

Can I have an EV charger without a driveway?

Usually not in a way we would be happy to fit. Running a cable across a public pavement is not something we will do, because of the trip risk and the liability. If there is no off-street parking we will say so rather than sell you something that causes problems later.
