Electrical safety reports for homeowners, landlords and businesses

EICR Testing & Electrical Inspection

An Electrical Installation Condition Report (EICR) is a full health check of your property's wiring, sockets, switches and consumer unit. It tells you if the electrics are safe to keep using and flags anything that needs sorting before it becomes a problem.

If you are a landlord, the law says you must have an EICR at least every five years and give your tenants a copy. Homeowners often get one when buying or selling, and businesses need them to keep their premises safe and compliant. We do the check, explain what we find in plain English and can quote to put right anything that fails.

EICRs & testing questions, answered

How often do I need an EICR?

Landlords need one at least every 5 years or when a new tenant moves in. For your own home, every 10 years is a good guide, or sooner for older homes. Commercial premises are usually every 5 years.

What happens if my property fails the EICR?

A 'fail' just means some items are coded C1 or C2 and need attention. We explain exactly what they are and give you a clear price to make it safe and bring it up to standard.

How long does an EICR take?

A typical home EICR takes about 2 to 4 hours, depending on the size of the property and how many circuits there are. Larger or commercial sites take longer.
